Toronto is so well known for its diversity, green space, fine cuisine and great night life. While these characteristics tend to dominate our conversations when discussing our beautiful city, Toronto also holds claim to some of the most eye catching and enjoyable running and walking routes in urban North America.
To better showcase, these hidden gems we present the Exercise Toronto ‘run of the week.’
This week’s run is a favorite of Exercise Toronto follower, Dave. An avid Toronto runner, Dave has taken on pretty much every run Toronto has thrown at him.
It’s a 7km loop that is almost entirely on roads. Pretty quick and simple. The run will start and finish at Queens Park but allows you to really appreciate and take in one of Toronto’s most unique streets – Wellesley Street.
(All runs shown in this section are nominated by Exercise Toronto visitors and are tried and tested by Exercise Toronto staff.)
The Run:
• From Queen’s Park, head north up to Davenport
• Turn east (right) on Davenport, then left onto Belmont Street
• At Yonge Street, continue east onto Rosedale Valley Road
• At the end of the road, turn right up the steps and into Wellesley Park
• Cross the park and head up Amelia Street. Turn right onto Sumach Street then left on Wellesley Street East
• Follow Wellesley back to the start
Notes on the Toronto running route:
• Please keep in mind the sidewalks on this route can get very busy during peak business hours and holidays.
• Transit Information: If you’re riding the Subway, your best bet is to get off at Queens Park. But Museum is acceptable if you wish to add to your distance.
