Toronto is so well known for its diversity, green space, fine cuisine and great night life. While these characteristics tend to dominate our conversations when discussing our beautiful city, Toronto also holds claim to some of the most eye catching and enjoyable running and walking routes in urban North America.
To better showcase, these hidden gems we present the Exercise Toronto ‘run of the week.’
This week’s run is a favorite of Exercise Toronto follower, Annie, who lives in the Annex and completes this run three times a week. She discovered it while training for the Sporting Life 10km two years ago, and it has become a staple in her fitness and exercise routine.
It’s a 6km loop that starts and finishes at Queens Park station and takes you through the Annex, Entertainment District and Kensington Market. It’s a great way to really capture the essence of three of Toronto’s most well known and different neighborhoods.
Thanks for your input Annie!
(All runs shown in this section are nominated by Exercise Toronto visitors and are tried and tested by Exercise Toronto.Com staff.)
The Run:
• Starting at Queen’s Park station, head south down University Avenue
• Turn right (east) onto Adelaide Street West
• When you reach Bathurst Street, cross to the west side and continue straight along Portugal Square
• When Portugal Square bends left, turn right onto Adelaide Street West again
• Turn right (north) onto Tecumseth Street
• When you reach Queen Street West, continue straight as Tecumseth becomes Palmerston Avenue
• Turn right (east) onto College Street
• Run along College Street until you reach your starting point (Queens Park Station)
Notes on the Toronto running route:
• This run is 100% on sidewalks.
• Please keep in mind the sidewalks on this route can get very busy during peak business hours and holidays.
• Transit Information: If you’re riding the Subway, your best bet is to get off at Queens Park. But Museum is acceptable if you wish to add to your distance.

A classic run if you’re looking to capture the city… Truthfully it’s not that challenging (all flat) but a great run for two people looking to talk and cathch up!
