Josh Hewett

  It goes without saying that training to be a strongman competitor, at any level, is a lot of hard work.   To succeed, an individual must have an intense desire to excel at their sport and be dedicated daily to improving their overall strength and conditioning.   A positive attitude and strong will, as well as the devotion of many long hours in the gym are all instrumental in determining the success of a strongman.   We got in touch with Toronto based strongman, Team Barbarian member and this week’s Exercise Toronto athlete of the week, Josh Hewett, to find out a little bit more about his career, future goals and exactly what it takes to be a successful strong man competitor.

Joe Eigo

  Like many other Toronto area residents, I woke up on March 18th (the day after St. Patrick’s Day) feeling a little bit groggy. As I went through the motions of my day, I prepared for my interview with this week’s Exercise Toronto athlete of the week, Joe Eigo.   After speaking with Joe for just over twenty minutes, I hung up the phone not feeling tired and groggy, but feeling rejuvenated, eager and passionate about the rest of my day.   I immediately laced up my cross trainers and headed out on a 7km trail run... Name: Paul Statchuk   Age: 25   Exercise/Sport: Running, Hockey, Golf   Living and breathing sports since he was old enough to participate, this week’s ExerciseToronto.Com Athlete of the Week was born with a passion for sports and fitness that goes beyond that of the everyday exerciser.    Growing up just north of Toronto, 25 year-old Paul Statchuk, is a true inspiration to the Toronto athletic community, with years of involvement in organized sports and an ever-evolving drive to succeed.   The always modest Statchuk says he views himself as “a pretty decorated athlete for not having achieved much in my career.” We disagree.
